August 3, 2019 - August 11, 2019
The Teran wine and prosciutto festival is a major Karst event, being the oldest of its kind in the area. Locals and all lovers of Karst cuisine and customs just love this much anticipated event in the idyllic village of Dutovlje. With its rich cultural and entertainment programme, it attracts a large number of visitors from Slovenia and beyond.
During the event, you’ll be able to savour top Karst specialties, including homemade prosciutto and Teran-based dishes. You’ll get to taste Teran wine in the many wine cellars, and learn about the typical Karst lifestyle and traditions.
In addition to Teran wine and prosciutto, you can find the following typical Karst foods: Istrian stew, dumplings, frittatas, cheese, ‘panceta’ (cured pork belly), ‘zašink’ (cured neck meat), lamb, and products from Karst honey. A similar offer based on the Teran wine and dried meats can also be found in open wineries and cellars in the Dutovlje Local Community.
Note: Prosciutto, ‘panceta’, ‘zašink’, and Karst honey products were given the EU quality seal of protected geographical indication in 2012.
