Food & Wine Pairing — Slovenska Hiša – Figovec, Ljubljana

Slovenska Hiša – Figovec restaurant in Ljubljana is holding another food and wine pairing as part of its ‘Vino se rado druži’ series on September 11. This event will be extra special as the restaurant is celebrating having obtained a certificate to make Prekmurska gibanica in-house.
Prekmurska gibanica is the only Slovenian dessert that is listed under the EU’s ‘Traditional Speciality Guaranteed’ scheme, meaning it can only be made by certified producers. Originating from the Prekmurje region, it’s a layered pastry with a number of fillings including poppy seeds, cottage cheese, walnuts, apples, and cream.
The event will take place at the restaurant’s secret garden. There’ll be a certificate award ceremony at 4.30pm, followed by dinner at 6pm. The five-course dinner will consist of Prekmurje culinary delights paired with wines by Vina Gjerkeš and MAROF winery. You’ll also have the opportunity to try some delicacies made by Kodila Gourmet.
