St Martin’s Festival in the Karst — Southwestern Slovenia

St Martin’s Day in Slovenia is celebrated in full force in Maribor and Ljubljana. However, the Karst region in the southwestern part of Slovenia also hosts a traditional event that’s worth attending.
The picturesque Karst region is known for its lovely food and superb wines, as it is for its captivating landscape and old atmospheric villages.
The hub of activity on this day of St Martin’s will be the historic village of Štanjel. A hop-on-hop-off bus service will take you from one open wine cellar to another. You’ll taste young wines and excellent Karst dishes.
During the St Martin’s Festival, you’ll also experience a rich culinary offer in many farms along the Karst Wine Route and an interesting programme of fun events happening in Sežana and Štanjel.
